Missed the action-packed Harper's Island finale or can't wait until Saturday night to find out what happened? This article spills all the shocking details.

With the revelation that Henry is John Wakefield’s accomplice and son at the end of the previous episode, the finale focuses on telling Henry’s story, which has been largely left untold up to this point. Complete with flashbacks into his childhood and insights into his motivation, the Harper’s Island finale allows viewers a chance to get inside the deranged mind of the killer.

Henry and Abby as Children

The series finale begins with a flashback to Henry and Abby as kids when Henry used to visit Abby on the island. Henry’s parents came with J.D. and told him it was time to go back home to Tacoma, but Henry didn’t want to leave. He wished that he could live with Abby on Harper’s Island. Abby whispers something to him, although it is deliberately inaudible, and Henry says “See you next summer” before leaving the island with his family.

After Trish’s Death

The finale returns to the present-day to show Henry standing over his dead fiancé’s body after stabbing her moments earlier. Henry remarks that killing Trish was “harder than the others,” but Wakefield tells him that she served her purpose. After hearing Shea call out in the distance, the two killers run off together, knowing that they only have a few hours to finish their work.

Sully, Shea, and Madison in the Boathouse

Shea and Madison rush to Sully at the boathouse that Trish discovered earlier in the day. They tell him that Wakefield somehow escaped from jail and has an accomplice. At first, Sully is still suspicious of Jimmy, but Shea tells him that Jimmy has been with Abby the whole time so it couldn’t be him. Sully also hears the unfortunate news that his friend Danny was killed while trying to fight off Wakefield. He then calls the Coast Guard again and finds out that the rescue helicopter hasn’t even left Seattle yet due to bad weather.

Trish’s Body is Discovered

Jimmy and Abby find Trish’s bloody body, still dressed in her wedding dress, on a path in the woods. Secretly, Henry and Wakefield are watching and Wakefield says that Henry knows what he has to do. Henry says that he has to kill Abby.

Shea and Madison Leave the Island

Sully, Shea, and Madison find a boat and Sully tells Shea to get her daughter safely off the island. He sends them off in the boat and calls the Coast Guard again, telling them to pick up Shea and Madison.

Henry Lies to Sully

Henry sneaks up on Sully in the boathouse and overhears that the rescue chopper will arrive in 45 minutes. He looks panicked that time is running out, but also appears momentarily touched that his “best man” stayed behind for him. Henry says that it was probably the stupidest thing Sully has ever done, knowing that he is about to kill his friend.

Henry Kills His Best Man

Henry then convinces Sully that he got separated from Trish and she is in the woods somewhere. When the two men go searching for her, Henry confesses that he is Wakefield’s son and that he is bitter about his life because he was stuck with a loser family after he was given up for adoption and no one told him the truth. At first, Sully was confused and didn’t believe him, but when Henry admitted to also killing Trish, Cousin Ben, Reverend Fain, Richard, Katherine, and J.D., Sully realizes the truth and pulls a gun on Henry. He pulls the trigger but finds that Henry had taken out the bullets earlier.

While Henry and Sully are talking, Wakefield sneaks up behind Sully and Henry stabs him in the back. He falls to the ground dead.

Abby and Jimmy Return to the Boathouse

Abby and Jimmy are alarmed to find the boathouse empty. They call the Coast Guard and are informed that Sully and Henry were told to head to the marina, where the rescue helicopter would pick them up.

Abby and Jimmy Find Henry

Abby and Jimmy find Henry in the woods. Henry claims to be looking for Trish, and fakes tears of sadness when Abby and Jimmy tell him Trish is dead. He says that he has to find her. Jimmy finds it odd that Henry did not stay with Trish.

The Church

The survivors are then summoned to the church by Wakefield. When they arrive, they find Trish’s bloody body in a casket. Henry weeps again, before Wakefield creeps out and attacks Jimmy. The two men struggle with each other, as a frantic Abby escapes from the church. Wakefield yells out “Henry, she’s getting away,” and Jimmy realizes that Henry is Wakefield’s accomplice. Jimmy lights a flare and lunges it at Wakefield, causing the church to catch fire.

Abby Realizes the Truth

Henry catches up to Abby in the woods and tells her that Wakefield killed Jimmy. Realizing that the Coast Guard told her that Henry and Sully were supposed to go to the marina, Abby asks Henry where Sully is. He lies and says that he didn’t see Sully. Abby knows this can’t be true, but just as she begins to realize the truth, Wakefield sneaks up. Henry unexpectedly stabs him instead of Abby, and as Wakefield dies, Abby sees in his eyes that he had a relationship with Henry. This is the moment when she realizes that Henry is the other killer. She tries to run away but falls and hits her head.

Before she blacks out, she sees the rescue helicopter flying overhead.
