CSI Miami Season 7 Starts Off With a Bang on CBS

CSI Miami, the forensic crime drama on CBS, aired its first episode of Season Seven with a edgy, intense episode, starring David Caruso as Lt. Horatio Caine. Season six ended with a cliffhanger, leaving fans wondering whether Caruso would return for Season Seven. Following is a partial summary with plot spoilers.

Season Six Finale: Going Ballistic

Last season, the CSI Miami season six finale ended with star David Caruso, in his role as Lt. Horatio Caine, shot and left dying on the ground of the airport. Horatio had been waiting for Julia and his son, Kyle, to arrive at the airport so they could be transported out of the country for their safety.

Season Seven Premiere

CSI Miami Season Seven premiered the first episode with the arrival of Horatio's team at the airport, emergency lights blaring. Detective Ryan Wolfe (Jonathan Togo) . was the first responder and he told the team that Horatio was dead and that he had already released the body.

The team was shaken with emotion, but suspicious about the disappearance of the body. The detectives started investigating forensic evidence and found that it did not add up. Erik Rodriguez (Erik Delko) and Emily Procter (Calleigh Duquesne) confronted Ryan, who was forced to admit that Horatio was still alive.

The hit was out on Horatio. He had staged his own execution, so he could go underground and flush out the culprits.

Horatio tapped Detective Yelina Salas (Sofia Milos), his younger brother's widow, to approach an arms dealer in South America and make an offer with $10 million as a down payment on a gun deal.

In the shootout at the end of the episode, Horatio shot into a boat stocked with a load of ammunition. The boat exploded into a blaze of colorful orange flames. The body of the arms dealer, Ron, was not found, leaving an opening for the evil character to return in the future.

CSI Miami had an edgy look, with intense colors standing out in the southern Florida skyline punctuated by the dramatic angles of Art Deco buidings. The soundtrack had a dangerous sounding beat, adding to the intensity of the drama.
