This new series on TNT delves into the lives of undercover cops. This episode focuses on the difficulties of being deep undercover for a long period of time.
The second episode of this new police drama is entitled “Guns, Strippers and Wives.” The undercover group of cops is led by Lieutenant Carter Shaw (Dylan McDermott) who has to not only secure the mission itself, but also rely on his team to do their jobs, which means good police work as well as maintaining their covers. In this episode Carter must procure $100,000 in less than twelve hours in order to set up a gun buy. His team has infiltrated a weapon-selling ring and they are about to strike a deal. Maintaining a Cover Means No Visits HomeEverything is going fine until one of the team members decides to sneak off in the middle of the night and pay his wife a visit. Little does he know that he is being watched and has subsequently put himself, his wife, and the mission in jeopardy. Fast talking and a good background story is necessary in order to save everything and everyone, but is it enough? This new series is filled with drama and intensity. The team of undercover cops is deep, deep undercover. Even the other cops are not aware of their unit. The members of this elite undercover operation live difficult lives. When they are working they must maintain their covers. This means often staying away from their homes for weeks and even months at a time. This is one stress factor put on these cops. And it is this stress factor that is the subject of this episode. The Hardships of Being Deep UndercoverAn undercover officer in this unit must maintain his or her cover every minute of every day, or find himself or his family in danger. Going deep undercover requires a special kind of personality, and Carter has his faith in the group he has assembled. But everyone is human, and as this episode shows, even undercover cops need their families. Because of the one indiscretion, the entire team must now work harder and faster to save his life, as well as finish their mission. If they do not come up with the money, their colleague will be killed along with his wife. So, the stakes on this one are higher than they first imagined. If they succeed, they take down a gun dealer, but if they fail, they lose a member of their team. Dylan McDermott stars along with Omari Hardqich as Ty Curtis, Logan Marshall-Green as Dean Bendis, and Nicki Aycox as Jaimie Allen. This second episode, “Guns, Strippers and Wives” premiers Wednesday, July 22 at 10 PM ET/PT on TNT. Dark Blue is a Jerry Bruckheimer production.
