It's time to wrap up the season of Dark Blue. The team finds itself in a precarious situation. Will they survive?

Lt. Carter Shaw (Dylan McDermott) is under investigation for killing an undercover DEA agent, and this might be the end of his special undercover team.

Knowing that their team leader is acting a little strange, Ty (Omari Hardwick), Dean (Logan Marshall-Green), and Jaimie (Nicki Aycox) follow him to find out what is going on. They hear shots and see Carter standing over a dead body. When they come down the hill to the crime scene, they are told that they have seen nothing, they know nothing, and they were never there.

Carter tells the investigator a different story than what his team saw. He says there was a third person there who started shooting and who then drove away in a blue Toyota. This baffles his team. Did they miss something? What is going on?

As the investigation drags on, the team is on hold. They are told to lay low and hold on while Carter clears his name. Apparently the investigator does not believe him and thinks that he killed the DEA agent not by accident, but on purpose. But then she digs further and finds some connections between Carter and the dead agent. These connections are more than professional. There are some very personal connections as well.

To Lie or Not to Lie

In the meantime, the team is requested to make statements about the incident. They have two options. They could back up Carter’s account and lie about everything. However lying to a Federal Agent is a big offense. Or they could tell the truth about what they saw and clear their own names. They have their own careers to think about.

This conflict weighs heavily on the three team members. They agree that the majority rules and whatever the decision, they need to all stand together. But will they corroborate Carter or help themselves?

To add to her stress, Jaimie’s boyfriend is offered a new job in San Francisco. He asks her to come with him. This sets off a new barrage of conflict for her. She finally has to come clean with him and tell him about some of the secrets she has been keeping from him.

Ty is under pressure from his wife to leave the team so they can live a normal life and start a family. He gets an offer from another department, but he does not know what he will do.

The episode entitled “A Shot in the Dark” is the season finale of Dark Blue and airs Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 10 PM ET/PT on TNT. This series has a 10-episode season. There is no word yet whether this series will be picked up for a second season.
