Lynette learns she is pregnant; Gaby welcomes Carlos' niece to the family; Bree and Carl become more personal than lawyer-client

The May 17, 2009 episode of Desperate Housewives, If It’s Only In Your Head, was the second part of the season’s two-part finale.

Putting the Pieces Together

Mary Alice flashbacked to the day Lila Dash and her daughter died. Lila had thought about how wonderful her husband is all day, and she wanted to go for ice cream. Dave had work to do, so Lila and Page went alone.

On the way to the woods Susan learned Dave’s family had died.

While gone, the police learned Dave’s true identity.

Mike’s Gut Feeling

Mike had a weird feeling before leaving for Las Vegas. Before leaving Katherine grabbed the tape Dave had given Mike. At the airport the tape began to play, and Mike ended up watching it. He ran off, and Katherine thought it was because he didn’t want to get married.

Mike called Susan, and told her to get away from Dave. The perfect opportunity came when M.J. had to go to the bathroom. He pulled off to the side of the road. When he got out of the car Susan hit Dave over the head with a rock. Right before then Dave received a call from the police that they knew everything. Susan went to grab the gun, but Dave moved.

Susan told M.J. to hide, and she took off. She twisted her ankle, and Dave caught up. He held a gun to her head and told her to call M.J. She yelled for him to stay away, so Dave went searching.

Susan woke up to Dave holding M.J. Back in the car Dave answered Mike calls. Mike pleaded for him to take him instead, and Dave agreed they could meet without cops at the spot where Lila and Page died.

There Dave tied Susan up. He planned to sit in the intersection with M.J. so Mike would hit them. When he got back in the car Dave saw Page in the back seat. The viewers then saw Mike hit the car, but M.J. wasn’t inside. Dave had let him go.

Mike and Susan kissed when they were reunited.

The final scenes were Dave in a mental institution, and Mike and a mystery woman marrying.

New Family, New Lover

Carlos and Gaby’s new house guest arrived, and she was not the little girl they thought she was.

Gaby was surprised by the Versace and Vera Wang in Anna’s closet, and Gaby questioned what Anna was doing with her many boyfriends to get such lavish gifts.

Gaby was even more surprised when Anna got the Scavo boys to do her chores for her. Gaby was upset about the message it was sending to Juanita, and she tried to lay down the law. Anna accused her of being jealous, and when Gaby threatened her she faked upset to Carlos. Gaby and Carlos got in an argument, and Carlos told Gaby to grow up.

Bree told Carl about Orson’s threats. Carl told her not to worry. Later, Orson was attacked by a stranger. Orson blamed Bree, but she knew nothing about it. She begged him to believe her, and he said he did.

Bree flipped out on Carl, but the conversation soon turned to Carl’s growing feelings for Bree. Bree told him she hated him. She fired him, but the two ended up locking lips.

Lynette visited the doctor after she began to fell sick. She was worried it was cancer again, but she was actually pregnant.

Tom was excited about getting in to college, but he was shocked about the baby. Tom’s shock increased when he learned Lynette was having twins.
