Desperate Housewives Mirror Mirror Airs on ABC
Episode Fills in Some of Five Year Story Gap in Hit TV Series
Desperate Housewifes jumped ahead five years this season, leaving a gap in the viewers minds. In the Mirror, Mirror episode, some of the five year gap was filled in by flashbacks. The ladies of Wisteria Lane each were confronted with a problem just as they headed to a party at Susan's (Teri Hatcher) house in honor of Mrs. McCluskey's (Kathryn Joosten) birthday. Stars of Desperate Housewives include Marcia Cross, Dana Delany, Teri Hufffman, Felicity Huffman Eve Longoria Parker and Nicolette Sheridan.
The episode moved frenetically, jumping from storyline to storyline. Each characterization was brief and to the point, leaving the viewer feeling that there was still a lot to fill in. Following is a brief summary about what has been happening with the characters and how the past affects their present and future. Spoiler alert, this synopsis contains spoilers.
Gabrielle and Carlos (Eva Longoria Parker and Ricardo Antonio Chavira)
Gaby fears that she is pregnant for the third time. After the second pregnancy she had demanded that Carlos get a vasectomy. AS they were walking to a party at Susan's Carlos admitted that he had never gotten the vasectomy.
Gabrielle was overjoyed when she got her period. When Carlos admits that he was hoping for a boy, she softens and realizes that he has an unrealized dream.
Susan and Mike (Teri Hatcher and James Denton)
Jackson tells Susan that he loves her and wants to move in, which Susan does not want. She flashes back to the day that she and Mike got divorced. She changed her mind at the last minute, but Mike refused to reconcile and signed the papers. Susan started a sexual affair with her painter and they both agreed that they would keep their relationship casual. When he tells her that he loves her she feels he is breaking a promise.
Jackson asks Susan if they have a future and she says she want things to keep on going the way they are. He breaks up with her.
Bree and Orson (Marcia Cross and Kyle MacLachlan)
Bree's husband, Orson, announces that he wants to be a partner in Bree's catering business. Catherine (Dana Delaney) is set against having him work for the company. When Bree says she cannot go against Catherine, Orson says he wants a divorce. When Orson asks why, she tells that that while he was in prison she developed an alcohol problem and Catherine helped her out of it.
Orson thanks Katherine for helping Bree and tells her that he won't mind earning a partnership while working for the company. Katherine tells him he won't last two months.
Lynette and Tom (Felicity Huffman and Doug Davant)
Lynette recalls a time when Tom had an electrical accident in the restaurant and had a near death experience. He tells her that he was afraid he was going to die in a pizza shop and needed more. Tom had a full blown middle aged crisis, bought a classic car and has decided to sell the business. He then informs Lynette that he want to sell the restaurant and get an RV and travel for a year.
Tom tells Lynette that she doesn't get it. She tells him that she does get it. She tells him that the restaurant was their adventure and they cannot keep throwing all the cards up in the air everytime he gets a little restless.
Edie and Dave (Nicolette Sheridan)
Dave still has a mysterious agenda. Mrs. McCluskey has gotten suspicious of him, so he devices a scheme to gaslight her while helping arrange a party, so he ends up looking like a good guy.
In the end, Mrs. McCluskey is taken to a mental hospital because of her reaction to Dave's sneaky actions.
The mystery remains, as Dave still has a secret agenda and a grudge against someone on Wisteria Lane. Dave is turning toward his real agenda and moving against a man who had ruined his life.
