"In Plain Sight" aired the dramatic season finale on USA Cable Network this week. New episodes about a female Federal Marshall and the witness protection program in Albuquerque, New Mexico are scheduled for 2009. This is a summary of the season finale, and therefore contains plot spoilers.

Mary McCormick is the female lead, playing Mary Shannon, Federal Marshall. Mary has a challenging career and a sister and mother who complicate her life enormously. Mary's sister, Brandi, is played by Nichole Hilts. Her mother, Jinx, is played by Leslie Ann Warren.

In Plain Sight Series Finale Synopsis

In the two last episodes of the season, Brandi's misadventures with her drug dealing boyfriend got Mary kidnapped, nearly killed and landed her in serious trouble with the FBI. Mary's career, and possibly her own freedom, were on the line.

Two FBI agents who had taken Brandi's boyfriend into custody were murdered. The boyfriend disappeared and Mary was snatched off of the street in a case of mistaken identity. It turned out that the kidnappers were told to grab a hot blond, meaning Brandi, and got Mary instead.

Brandi's boyfriend was shot right in front of Mary, but not before he revealed her true identity as a Federal Marshall to the kidnapper, further endangering her life. Mary was saved in a nick of time by quick thinking, getting herself released just before her coworkers burst in on the scene.

The FBI agent who was on the case took an unreasonably hard stance against Mary, speculating that with her familiy background he was amazed that she passed clearance for the Federal Marshall job. Mary's father was on the most wanted list. Jinx and Brandi also had run ins with the law.

Mary was not aware that her sister had brought a suitcase filled with crystal meth into her house. Mary informed her sister and her mother, that she would have to report anything Brandi revealed to Mary to the FBI. Mary said she could not help her sister.

Jinx and Brandi were shocked at Mary's hard stance, but she was dead serious. In a painful family confrontation, Mary revealed that her father, on the run from the law himself, had been writing her letters. She said that somehow he had been keeping tabs on them.

After soul searching, Mary told Brandi to tell her everything. Brandi gave Mary the suitcase containing the dangerous drugs, which Mary put into her car. Mary pulled out of the driveway too late. A convergence of police cars and flashing lights stopped her. The FBI agent announced they had a search warrant. It seemed that the situation was hopeless, but when the FBI opened the suitcase, all they found were white towels.

After the law enforcement officers left the house, which had been totally trashed in their search, Jinx and Brandi wondered whatever happened to the crystal meth that had been in the suitcase.

The camera brought the viewer to a sports field, where a man was spreading white lines on the green lawn. The crystal meth was being hidden in plain sight. The viewer assumed that the man was Mary and Brandi's father and Jinx's husband.

In Plain Sight Ending Summary

All appeared to be well as the season ended. The FBI agent was still after Mary and the Shannon family, but was without evidence. Mary's family and romantic issues offer storylines to explore in future episodes. The ending was a bit of a fairytale, with the Shannon women being saved just in a nick of time. Unrealistic as the ending of In Plain Sight was, it was enjoyable and strangely satisfying.

In Plain Sight could be a captivating drama with the stories of the witnesses in Federal Protection as the main focal point. The famly drama often detracts from the stories of the witnesses. It will be interesting to see how the show's producers develop the plotline in future episodes.

In Plain Sight Renewed for Fall Season

In Plain Sight will return with new episodes in in summer of 2009. Plain Sight Drama on USA Cable Network In the meantime, reruns will air on USA Network. The In Plain Sight website also has episodes available for viewing on line.

I couldn't disagree more about the family drama taking away from the show. Mary's background with her very dysfunctional makes the series what it is.

It also seemed very clear to me that it was Marys boyfriend Raphael who had transported the crystal meth onto the baseball field where it was being spread as chalk. I believe that Brandi left the bag of drugs at his house and he took it from there.

One other detail about your article. The coming season will not be shown until the Summer of 2009, not in the fall as you stated. The production is starting in the fall, but will not be seen on the USA Network until next summer. You can verify this at the USA network.

Thanks for your review, just thought I'd throw my two cents in.
