Dick Wolf's New York City Major Case Squad Returns for Season 8

Law & Order: Criminal Intent New York detectives explore the criminal mind on USA Network. The series returns for season eight with 15 new episodes in 2009.

Law and Order: Criminal Intent is returning to USA Cable Network on an unspecified date in 2009. The series was initially scheduled to return on November 7, 2008, but the return of the series has been delayed into 2009. The eighth season of the series produced by Dick Wolf will bring 15 all new episodes of the crime series. Law & Order: Criminal Intent stars Vincent D'Onofrio as Detective Robert Goren, Kathryn Erbe as Detective Alexandra Eames, Julianne NIcholson as Detective Megan Wheeler and Eric Bogosian as Captain Danny Ross. Jeff Goldblum is joining the cast as Detective Zach Nichols, replacing Chris Noth.

Law and Order: Criminal Intent is Dick Wolf's third installment of the long running Law & Order brand. Criminal Intent takes viewers into the mind of the criminal, exploring the criminal mind and motives. The Major Case Squad of the New York City Police uses a brainy psychological approach to solving crimes. The Major Case Squad investigate high profile cases, usually homicides. Cases involving VIP's, local government officials, the financial industry and the art world.

The series is produced by Wolf Films and Universal Cable Productions. Emmy Award winning producer Dick Wolf created Law and Order: Criminal Intent. Rene Balcer developed the series.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent was the top drama series in basic cable prime time for the fourth quarter of 2007, according to a press release by USA Network. The drama more than doubled the Thursday 10 PM time period audience from the same weeks of the prior year.

Jeff Goldblum Joins Cast of CI

Jeff Goldblum will be playing Detective Zach Nichols, a detective born and bred in New York City, particularly the Upper West Side. Goldblum will be partnered with Julianne Moore, as Detective Megan Wheeler.

Goldblum, who has a distinctive style and quirkiness, has made a name for himself in both movies and television. Film credits include Little Surprises, Man of the Year, The Life Aquatic, Jurassic Park, The Lost World, Independence Day, Nine Months, The Fly and The Big Chill. He received an Emmy nomination for a guest appearance in the hit series Will & Grace in 2005.

Jeff Goldblum is replacing Chris Noth, who played Detective Mike Logan. Noth departed the series at the end of season seven.
