Mad Men, the AMC television drama about advertising men in the 1960's aired their season three finale on November 8, 2009, in "Close the Door: Have a Seat," an episode bound to leave viewers wanting more, the Mad Men picked up momentum to form a new advertising agency. Mad Men stars Jon Hamm as ad executive Don Draper. The cast of Mad Men includes January Jones, John Slattery, Vincent Kartheiser, Elisabeth Moss, Christine Hendricks and Robert Morse. Emmy Award winner Matthew Weiner is the creator, executive producer and writer for this acclaimed series. Draper Marriage DoomedThe troubled Draper marriage appeared to finally be over, because Betty (January Jones) could not forgive Don (Don Draper) for his adultery and deception. Betty got a push from politician Henry Francis, who said he wanted marry her and to take care of her and the children. Upon learning from Roger Sterling that Betty had been unfaithful to him, Draper drunkenly confronted his wife because she had always been good and has always had “Her little white nose in the air.” Betty ordered Don out of the house and Don said he would fight her for the children. Later, in the midst of setting up the new agency in a hotel suite, Don called Betty and told her he would not fight her on the divorce. In one of the final scenes, Betty Draper flew away with Henry Francis, for a Reno divorce. It seemed that Betty made herself vulnerable by trusting Henry Francis and abandoning the Draper marriage without a divorce settlement. Sterling Cooper Shake UpUpon the news that Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency was being sold again, the key executives bailed out to form their own agency. Don Draper initiated the deal, convincing Bertram Cooper and Roger Sterling that they could strike out on their own. Don was forced to admit that he needed Roger because Don was a brilliant creative man, but not a good account man, citing the example of his experience with the Hilton Hotels account. Don became excited at striking own with this small band of rebels and seemed to come to life. Lane Pryce was enlisted to help the ad men as they needed to be fired to get out of their employment contractss legally. Once convinced that his own career was over, Pryce agreed to fire them in exchange for a partnership in the new company. The excitement built as the advertising executives recruited trusted staff to join them on the new venture. Pete Campbell (Vincent Kartheiser) and Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss) were both considering jumping ship, but were persuaded to join the new firm after Don convinced them that he valued each of them and their contributions. Joan Harris (Christina Hendricks), who had left the agency early in the season, was called back by Roger Sterling to help the ad men move their records out of the office and to set up a new office. The new agency; Sterling, Cooper, Draper, Pryce is leaner, meaner and more hopeful than the sophisticated Sterling Cooper agency. The revitalized Mad Men push up their shirtsleeves and set to work in a hotel suite. Don Draper was forced to open up more than he ever has in order to get what he wanted, which was to open a new advertising agency and a new life. In addition to complimenting Pete and Peggy, he was forced to make amends with Bertram Cooper and Roger Sterling. In the end Don Draper looked forward with anticipation toward the road ahead. Viewers will have to wait until the fourth season for the next part of the story. Cast of Mad Men
