Raising the Bar is the newest legal drama series from Steven Bochco. The legal series will air on TNT Cable Television on Labor Day, following the popular series The Closer. The new Drama series, created by Steven Bochco and Lawyer/Writer David Feige comes to TNT from ABC Studios and Bochco Media.
Emmy winning Steven Bochco is the mastermind of legal dramas, with series NYPD Blue, Hill Street Blues and LA Law included in his impressive resume.
The new legal series promises to be young and edgy. Previews of the show reveal the deals that lawyers make behind the scene. A fresh new look at the legal system will be exposed.
Raising the Bar is a legal drama that follows the lives and cases of intense young lawyers who have been friends since law school, but who now work on opposing sides. The legal drama series stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Gloria Reuben and Jane Kazmaret.
Cast of Raising the Bar
- Mark-Paul Gosselaar stars as Jerry Kellerman, who is an idealistic young attorney in the New York Public Defenders Office. Gosselaar starred with Geena Davis and as Detective John Clark in NYPD Blue.
- Gloria Reuben plays Rosalind, Kellerman's protective boss in the Public Defender's office. Reuben garnered multiple Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Jeanie Boulet in ER.
- Jane Kaczmarek is Judge Trudy Kessler, who is an imperious ruler of her courtroom. Kaczmarek starred in the Emmy winning TV series Malcolm in the Middle for seven years.
- Teddy Sears is Richard Patrick Woolsley who forgoes a cushy job in his father's firm to work for the Public Defender's Office.
- Melissa Sagemille is Michelle Ernhardt, an attorney in the DA's office.
- Currie Graham is DA Nick Balco, who is a sharp attorney, but a bit of a lecher. Graham has most recently appeared on Desperate Housewives, Boston Legal, Men in Trees and House.
- August Richards is Marcus McGarth in the DA's office.
- Natalia Cigliuti as Roberta Gilardi
Bochco is the Creator/Executive Director of Raising the Bar. Bochco has won ten Emmy Awards" six for Hill Street Blues, three for L.A. Law and one for NYPD Blue. Steven Bochco has been in the entertainment industry for nearly 30 years.
Cable is a departure from network programming for Bochco. In an interview with Forbes Magazine, Bochco was quoted as saying that cable was more of a boutique environment, which is more respectful of the creative process.
TNT Turner Network Television
TNT has become the destination for detective and legal dramas. Successful original series aired on TNT include The Closer with Kyra Sedgwick and Saving Grace, with Holly Hunter. The network also airs episodes of Law & Order, Without a Trace and Cold Case.
Raising the Bar Debuts on TNT
