Shocking Revelations in Harper's Island FinaleKiller Wanted To Live On Island With Abby Forever
With John Wakefield out of the picture, the second half of the finale reveals the twisted truth behind Henry's killings. It really was, as J.D. said, "all about Abby."
In the second half of the series finale, John Wakefield’s legacy has come to an end and it is revealed that Henry has been obsessed with Abby, his half-sister, all along. In his crazed mind, he did everything for Abby so they could live together on Harper’s Island and he believed that everyone else was in their way. Here’s a summary of what happened in the last half of the finale: Shea and Madison are SafeShea and Madison are seen in an office, where they are showed photos of the alleged victims of the massacre on Harper’s Island. They are told that they are the only survivors and that their friends perished in a fire at the church. Abby, Jimmy, and Henry are all thought to be dead and the authorities believe that Wakefield committed all the murders himself. Abby Wakes UpAfter being knocked unconscious from her fall, Abby wakes up in an unfamiliar room and is visibly confused and disoriented. She goes downstairs and finds Henry, and is reminded of the events that transpired before. Henry tells her that in killing Wakefield he chose her over his own father and that he would never do anything to hurt her. Abby is horrified and runs into the bathroom, locking herself inside. Henry says that he’ll wait for her. What Abby Whispered To HenryThe same flashback that was showed at the beginning of the finale is shown again, but this time, the line that Abby whispered to Henry is audible. She said that she wished she and Henry could live on Harper’s Island alone forever. Henry tells her that now they can live together like she wanted and to come back downstairs when she is ready. Henry Reveals His Dark SecretsAbby comes downstairs with a shard of broken glass pointed at Henry. Abby now realizes that Henry is her half-brother. Henry says that their mom threw him away and reveals that he first met Wakefield in the woods the day that Wakefield committed the first set of murders. Henry and Wakefield felt an immediate connection, but Henry didn’t know that Wakefield was his real father. Abby is once again horrified when Henry tells her he was inspired by the man that everyone else feared and despised. He then says that Wakefield tracked him down in Seattle a year later, and he was impressed by the kind of love it must have taken to reach out to his long-lost son. Henry says that Wakefield taught him about his urges to kill and that he wanted to be like his dad. He then confesses that he was responsible for all of the “copycat” killings in Seattle. Abby Finds Jimmy Tied UpHenry tells a disgusted Abby that he loves her. The wedding with Trish was just a hoax because it was the only way he could think of to get Abby to return to Harper’s Island. She runs off and finds Jimmy tied up in a shed-like room. Henry explains that Wakefield wanted to kill Jimmy a long time ago, but Henry needed to keep him alive as a scapegoat because Shea knew that Wakefield had an accomplice. Henry believes he can convince Jimmy to sign a confession to being Wakefield’s accomplice in exchange for keeping Abby safe. Jimmy agrees, but only if he can say goodbye to Abby. An emotionally-distraught Abby reluctantly goes with Henry to say her last goodbye to Jimmy. Abby Says Goodbye to JimmyAbby apologizes to Jimmy for leaving the island seven years ago. She kisses him and somehow transfers a sharp object to Jimmy in her mouth so that he can cut free from the ropes around his hands. She says that she loves Jimmy, and an angry Henry strikes her and knocks her to the ground. She stabs him in the foot with a screw driver and runs away again. Henry then chases her to a cliff. The Final StruggleHenry tells Abby that he did everything for her and that he would die without her. He says that she and the island are his home and now they can be together. Abby is mortified and shouts that she doesn’t want Henry. Henry is devastated and caught off-guard for a moment, when Jimmy lunges at him and pushes him forward. The two men fall a short distance below. Jimmy is injured and Henry somehow disappears for a moment, before sneaking back up on Abby again. Scared and confused, she stabs him with the boarding knife that he was previously carrying. Henry is dismayed. He cries and tells Abby that he loves her as he dies a slow death and then slumps over into the water. The AftermathAbby and Jimmy are safe on a boat and being taken back to the mainland, as they embrace and comfort each other. Pre-wedding VideoThe series ends by showing clips from a video that was filmed on the boat trip to Harper’s Island. Each member of the wedding party is shown on camera offering his/her blessings and well-wishes to Henry and Trish. Even the future bride and groom appear in the video. Henry is the last to be shown. The SurvivorsThe four survivors of Harper’s Island were Abby, Jimmy, Shea, and Madison. From what was shown, it is unclear whether or not Shea and Madison found out that Abby and Jimmy were in fact alive.
