Sons of Anarchy - AlbificationSecond Season Premiere of Sons of Anarchy Episode Recap S02E01
Sons of Anarchy, the outlaw motorcycle club of Charming, CA returns to television's FX channel with drama aimed to both please and disturb.
Loose Ends from Last SeasonThe first season of Sons of Anarchy ended with unfinished business. Is Opie going to find out the truth about Donna's death? Will SAMCRO attempt to lay the murder down at the feet of the One-Niners or the Mayans? Is the ATF done with their business with SAMCRO? What is going to happen to the gun running business? Are Jax and Tara going to stay together or will Gemma put an end to it? Is Tara going to find out the truth of what the Club really does? Will Clay and Jax be able to resolve their differences or will it be an end to SAMCRO? The questions and more left viewers wondering what would happen at the start of the new season. The premiere gave some answers, along with a whole lot of drama and even more new questions. Opie's ReturnAt the end of the first season, Opie left to do some soul searching after Donna's murder. In the second season, he is back and ready for vengeance. Tig had made Donna's murder look like a gangster hit by the One-Niners trying to kill him, and Opie is left confused when they try and lay it on the Mayans' feet instead. To try and keep things together, SAMCRO fetches a Mayan they can deal with and put Donna's murder on him. With some helpful improvisation by Tig, Opie puts the Mayan away without trouble and may or may not have put his wife's soul to rest at the same time. They leave Jax to dispose of the body, who decides to leave it in Mayan territory with nine fingers up, ready to cause some turmoil to get back at Clay for the murder. Meanwhile, Opie has turned into a cold man, not the warm, careful person we saw in season one. The Gun BusinessThe first season saw Jax trying desperately to get the Sons out of the gun business, for fear that the ATF guillotine was going to come down on them and trying to keep with his father's vision for the Club. He somewhat gets his wish as the second season starts out. In order to release some of the ATF heat, SAMCRO promises to stop assembling and selling guns and instead makes a deal with the True IRA to run their guns up and down the coast and make deliveries. It is dangerous business, but more in the direction of Jax's family values and less in Clay's murder and mayhem. Tara and the TruthTara and Jax are still together, almost every night according to Gemma, when the second season starts. Not for the first time, Tara confronts Gemma about the situation and asks her honestly if she wants the relationship for her son or not. For the very first time, Gemma does not denounce Tara's involvement with Jax, but instead tells her if they are going to be together that she should employ a policy of full disclosure. Cut Jax off unless he tells her everything. Tara actually takes Gemma's advice and confronts Jax about his business in the Club. He tells her the truth: he helped Opie kill a man that day, shot him in the head. Tara takes her time to swallow the information, but then climbs into bed with him, presumably okay with what he does. New Faces in CharmingIn the second season we are introduced to two new faces walking the streets of charming. Ethan Zobelle enters town to start a cigar shop, and brings with him his 'assistant' A.J. Weston. We learn at the very beginning that they are a part of the League of American Nationalists (LOAN), a white supremacist group that wants a part of Charming, not to profit, but merely to make sure that whites are running the town. After paying a visit to Darby and showing disdain for the hispanics in his employment, Zobelle and Weston visit SAMCRO and ask them kindly to stop doing business with the One-Niners and the Mayans. Clay tells them, always respectfully, that they will not succumb to anyone's word, be they black, brown, or even white. In order to further press the wishes of LOAN, Weston and some others resort to a backup plan, which is the most disturbing thing to have happened on Sons of Anarchy by far. Instead of going after the Club, they go after Gemma and leave a message that they are sure will incur Clay's retaliation. Sons of Anarchy is on the FX channel on Tuesday nights.
